I appreciate the great work on the Manning family. Please explain how the father of Zachary Taylor (Richard Taylor born 1741) is connected to the Mannings. I have not been able to trace this person to the children or descendents of Margaret Manning & Richard Taylor. There is no Richard born 1741. Am I missing something?

Regards, Gary

Could you possibly share sources? I have some of the same information: Richard (b 1641) father of Richard (b 1672) father of Richard (b 1694) who had a son Richard born abt 1724 - but not 1741. I would love to plug the hole I have in my genealogy. I'm a descendant of Richard's brother, Joseph who was born abt 1726 and married Nancy Walker in Orange County, VA.
Thanks, Michelle

I am a descendant of John Taylor who came over from England in 1640 and settled in Julian Creek. He had a son named Richard.

Our family is trying to get our lineage back to England. Do you have any info that would help?

Thank you,

J. Rod Taylor

George Taylor brother of Zachary was my GR GR Gr grandfather. My family moved to Oklahoma sometime after the civil War. I know they lost everything but they always said they were distant relitives of Zachary Taylor. It was not until recently when I was researching Toliver Taylor that I found out that his father was a brother. Which makes me very curious as to the cover up? Many articles say George died young which he did not. I am trying to find his grave in the National Cemetary in Louisville and cannot get a record of it. Do you know if there were problems . He was the only non army persson in Richard's family but he ran several of the plantations. My Aunt told that but just said they were his. No mention of the relationship. I have a long article she wrote that says all family records were lost. Would love to find a picture of him or of Toliver who was my Aunt's grandfather. Thank you Sallie Hood ( of the Florence family of Kentucky on the other side.I did not even know of the Ky. connection of my MOther's family.

I just recieved a answer from asklibrarya question.com that quoted a book that stated George's back was hurt from a falling tree and he died unmarried. But I have found on ancestors over and over that Toliver's father was George and they lived in Virginia farming. The book is by your fellow Kentuckian Holman Hoffman who ofcourse was a professor at the University of Kentucky. Along with you two of my children have gone there my daughter is still a Spanish and Archiology student at the University and lives in Paris. But I strongly feel that instead of staying with the family until the end George lived in Virginia and married and had Toliver the dates match up too well. I would love to know what you feel about this. Wish I could come to Ky. now but my husband is very ill and unable to travel. Any ideas would be greatfully appreciated. Thank you Sallie Hood ( sallies_cottage@yahoo.com

The best person to call, Taylor Family Historian, is Helen Marie Taylor who lives in Orange, VA. Helen owns Bloomsbury and her son owns Meadowfarm. These were the original James Taylor homesteads and they are still in the family. Feel free to call me, Richard Taylor at 203-594-9014 if you would like to share information or simply chat. Helen is the Taylor family historian and will have much helpful knowledge.

I am the coordinator for the Taylor DNA Project. We have tested over 250 Taylors so far and grouped many of them into clans. I am particularly interested in what J. Rod Taylor said about being descended from the Julian Creek Taylors. If I could contact him, I would like his DNA in the project as we have several other families who claim descent from that area and his DNA might match some of them. My email is "doitron@hotmail.com". Hope to hear from Rod or others who may wish to participate in DNA research on the Taylor lines.
